What features actually make a taxi booking app useful?

I’ve been looking at how taxi booking apps have changed over the last few years, and it seems like there is much more involved than simply allowing someone to request a ride. A basic app might need to handle passenger registration, driver availability, pickup locations, fare estimates, and payments. But once the number of drivers and passengers grows, things like real-time location tracking, trip allocation, cancellations, notifications, and customer support become much more important. One thing I find interesting is how these systems handle the matching process. For example, should a ride always be offered to the closest available driver, or should other factors such as estimated arrival time, traffic, driver status, and trip distance also be considered? There is also the question of pricing. Some platforms use fixed fares, while others adjust prices according to demand and availability. I imagine getting that balance right can have a significant effect on both driver participation and passenger satisfaction. For anyone who has worked on or used different taxi booking app platforms, what features do you think are genuinely useful? And from a development perspective, what tends to be the most difficult part to get right: maps and location tracking, driver matching, payments, pricing, or handling a large number of simultaneous bookings?
